RESTORING YOUR SMILE

Though dental emergencies can be scary, we offer dental services in our office to quickly restore damaged or lost teeth and help you start healing quickly. Your dental emergency may require one of the following procedures:

The inner part of your tooth (or “pulp”) contains soft tissues such as blood vessels, connective tissues, and nerve endings. In the event of significant trauma to a tooth, the delicate pulp may sustain permanent damage. However, the good news is that you can maintain your natural tooth through a procedure called a root canal. First, Dr. Michael will remove the pulp and clean and prep the tooth to be filled with a durable, rubber-like material. Next, we place a temporary dental crown until we can place a final crown over the tooth. Finally, we’ll place your customized crown, which should fit your tooth perfectly.

If the damaged or infected tooth cannot be saved through a root canal treatment, Dr. Michael may perform a dental extraction. We will remove the tooth from the jaw, and the opening in the gum will be stitched closed. A recovery period is necessary after extraction. We will give you time to heal before pursuing dental implants or other tooth replacement options.

For fractured or broken teeth that have not experienced damage to the pulp, Dr. Michael may place a temporary dental crown to protect the inner tooth from oral bacteria or other particles. Then, we file and shape the natural tooth to provide a base for the final crown. Acting as a type of cap, the dental crown fits neatly over the natural tooth and will be custom-colored and shaped to blend in with your natural smile.
