Often referred to as “partials,” partial dentures are a removable teeth replacement option for patients with at least one or more remaining teeth in the top and bottom jaws. Partials are a type of removable dental bridge; the artificial teeth and gum-colored plastic plate are supported by a metal framework that connects to your existing tooth or teeth. In addition, some partials offer connectors called precision attachments that have a more natural appearance. As with dental bridges, we may need to place a crown on your existing tooth to add additional support for the partials.

For some qualifying patients with minimal tissue deterioration of the jaw, implant-supported dentures may be another treatment option recommended by Dr. Michael. Unlike regular dentures, which rest on a patient’s gums, implant-supported dentures are attached to two or more dental implants, providing a more stable connection to your jaw.

With implant-supported dentures, patients will receive more oral health benefits than other tooth replacement options. When we place the titanium dental implant in your jaw, it fuses with your jawbone. This process is called osseointegration, and it encourages natural, healthy bone growth within your jaw, which improves your oral health and maintains your face shape. No other tooth-replacement option operates this way, making dental implants unique.
